 PLENTY OF ACTION
FINGER-LIKKIN GOOD BBQ!
Smokin’ Gecko’s BBQ- Sauce so good, you won’t want napkins.
Smokin’ Gecko’s BBQ- the brand new restaurant at Circus Circus Reno- opens May 13th and features the finest in American barbeque fare. Located on the Mezzanine level of Circus Circus in the space formerly occupied by Bonici Brothers™ Pizzeria, Smokin’ Gecko’s is a great addition to the downtown Reno foodscape.
“This will be the first downtown Reno casino barbeque restaurant with a casual atmosphere, great service, plentiful portions of quality barbeque, and ice cold Sierra Nevada beer,” said Food & Beverage Director Bill Miller. “What else makes it unique is you can also have pizza and even sushi. It’s like three restaurants in one.”
Simply reading the menu at Smokin’ Gecko’s will get your stomach rumbling and your mouth watering. Begin with one of the seven delicious appetizers on the menu including Texas Toothpicks and jalapeño poppers or go for the Smokin’ Sampler, a terrific spread of barbeque pork spareribs, chicken wings, chicken tenders, onion twigs, and your choice of sweet potato or garlic fries.
On the lighter side, there are three entrée-sized salads to choose from, including the Screaming Caesar salad tossed with a smoky Caesar dressing; the BBQ Chop salad, a barbeque take on a traditional Cobb salad; and the Chopstick salad, combining Asian ingredients with your choice of beef brisket, pulled pork, or rotisserie chicken.
Smokin’ Gecko’s has a great selection of sandwiches for both lunch and dinner. The pulled pork sandwich features slow-roasted pork and a slathering of sweet sauce on a freshly baked roll. Or, try the Pig in a Blanket, with slowly smoked pork, coleslaw, drunken BBQ beans, and BBQ sauce wrapped up tight in a flour tortilla. Make any of the sandwiches a meal by adding your choice of one side dish and a soft drink for only $2 extra.
Smokin’ Gecko’s has the very best in entrée variety. From ribs, both St. Louis spareribs and baby back, to mesquite rotisserie chicken and Louisiana hot links, you’ll have a difficult time just choosing one. That’s why we’ve created the Smokin’ Gecko’s combo where you can pick either two or three meats and two sides. All entrées are accompanied by a square of delicious homemade cornbread and whipped honey butter.
And what about those sides? You’ll have plenty to choose from including drunken BBQ beans, coleslaw, Louisiana dirty rice, corn on the cob, fried okra, mashed sweet potatoes, red potato salad, macaroni salad, and three kinds of fries- sweet potato, French, or garlic!
“When a guest visits Smokin’ Gecko’s BBQ, they will experience authentic barbeque with distinct flavors and great presentations,” says Executive Chef Darrin McKillip. “People coming to Smokin’ Gecko’s will be able to experience the authentic flavors of great barbeque- tender ribs, brisket slow-cooked for hours, sauce so good you won’t want napkins, and some fantastic Old South desserts that will knock your socks off!”
Speaking of desserts, you’ll want to save room with dishes like the chocolate bundt cake featuring both milk and white chocolate varieties. What’s a barbeque without some bread pudding? Our cinnamon raisin bread pudding is topped with a praline pecan sauce that will leave you wanting more. Or try The Perfect Ending, an old fashioned apple cake topped with bananas Foster, whipped cream, and caramel sauce.
Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. beers will be featured at Smokin’ Gecko’s with the wheat, porter, stout, and the ever-popular pale ale varieties on the menu regularly and a seasonal feature making an appearance. In addition, all three specialty sauces on the Smokin’ Gecko’s menu include a Sierra Nevada beer as an ingredient.
Fans of Bonici Brothers™ pizza will not be disappointed. Several varieties of the delicious pizza will be available at Smokin’ Gecko’s BBQ including the favorite BBQ chipotle chicken and a new pulled-pork pizza featuring smoked pork with a tangy BBQ sauce.
Smokin’ Gecko’s BBQ is open for lunch and dinner seven days a week. The atmosphere is casual and fun and the food is plentiful and delicious. Come as you are and bring a friend!

START YOUR SUMMER WITH: CROSBY, STILLS and NASH!
David Crosby, Stephen Stills and Graham Nash are “three together,” once again, as they bring their North America tour to the Reno Ballroom on June 29, 2008. It is the legendary trio’s first tour since 2005 – the last time all three were united on the road in any configuration was for Crosby, Stills, Nash (CSN) & Young’s 2006 Freedom Of Speech Tour.
CSN first formed in Los Angeles in 1968, each one coming to the group with a pedigree from another influential act: David Crosby from The Byrds, Stephen Stills from Buffalo Springfield, and Graham Nash from The Hollies. Their self-titled 1969 debut album – featuring song classics including “Suite: Judy Blue Eyes,” “Marrakesh Express,” and “Guinnevere” – was an instant masterpiece that helped them score that year’s Best New Artist GRAMMY® and is now #259 on Rolling Stone Magazine’s list of the “500 Greatest Albums Of All Time.”
When CSN’s Greatest Hits compilation was issued in 2005, music journalist David Wild noted in his Rolling Stone review, that the trio was, “…the original late-Sixties harmonic convergence…the first super-group worthy of the tag…Where earlier groups such as the Everly Brothers and the Beach Boys offered brotherly blends of harmony, CSN introduced a revolutionary chemistry of varied voices and songwriting styles.” The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame echoes that sentiment in their online summary of the group’s 1997 induction, noting that, “Crosby, Stills & Nash have remained America’s longest-running experiment in vocal harmony and social relevance.”
As one of the most popular, enduring and influential acts to emerge out of the original Woodstock era (they made their second-ever concert appearance with Neil Young at the ’69 festival), CSN has often been called the “voice of an entire generation.” Now, on tour in the U.S. in a landmark election year, CSN’s collective voice will be as loud and as clear as ever, with peerless harmonies and messages of social justice seamlessly sharing the spotlight, reaching many generations of fans across America.
Tickets are on sale April 4 at 10 a.m. and can be purchased by phone at 888-288-1833 and online at downtownreno.com. Tickets are also available at Circus Circus’ Main Cashier’s Cage, the Eldorado Showroom Box Office, and Silver Legacy’s Box Office. Ticket prices are $80, $70, $60, and $40.
